A short-lived Geelong Football Club them song, penned by legendary music icon Barry Crocker, almost 30 years ago, will be re-released on Monday in light of the Cats’ 150th birthday celebrations.
Speaking exclusively to the Geelong Advertiser yesterday, Crocker said his 1982 song “Come on the Cats” would be removed from the mothballs and digitally remastered for charity. The Geelong-born entertainer produced the anthem at the request of then-coach Billy Goggin, who thought the club’s Carmen tune theme song had become tired, outdated and in need of an overhaul.
Barry got the front page of the Geelong Advertiser on Saturday the 15th August 2009 for his great new re-release of the Cats Anthem. Click here to read all about it.
