Introducing Dale Nougher (pronounced NOYA), an Australian artist with a profound passion for music and the natural world. Born on the 1st of March 1960 in Dandenong, Victoria, music has been an integral part of Dale’s life from an early age. Growing up in a musically inclined family, the piano became the centrepiece of his upbringing. At just 10 years old, Dale embarked on his musical journey by taking his first piano lesson, and his innate talent led him to teach himself by ear.

In 1971, Dale’s family took a fascinating leap and leased the expansive 28,000-acre Clarke Island in the Bass Straits’ Furneaux Group. Becoming the island’s sole inhabitants, this unique environment became a creative sanctuary for Dale. Immersed in the tranquility of nature, he found a profound connection between the earth’s raw beauty and the mesmerising melodies flowing from his fingertips.

The musical influence on Clarke Island was diverse, with the music of Scott Joplin accompanied by his mother’s classical training. These initial chord structures left an indelible mark on Dale’s musical sensibilities, offering him a clear insight into the world of music. It wasn’t long before he began composing and performing his own songs, showcasing an innate ability to infuse the essence of nature into his compositions.

In 1976, Dale took a significant step forward by joining his first band, and by 1978, he was an integral part of the Tasmanian band ‘EARSHOT.’ The group’s talent and dedication saw them share stages with renowned acts like ‘MONDO ROCK’ and ‘MISEX’ when these mainland bands toured Tasmania. Dale’s musical prowess and captivating performances quickly earned him high regard, not just locally but also worldwide, as an expert in chill and down-tempo music.

Today, Dale Nougher is fully dedicated to producing instrumental music that beautifully fuses the serenity of the natural world with captivating instrumental arrangements. Residing in Bell Buoy Beach, he has found his creative haven amid the inspiring sights and sounds of nature.
