In the early days of AC/DC when Dave Evans was the band’s front man, they made music history by covering massively popular rock songs. One of these was Elvis Presley’s Heartbreak Hotel. The cover was a huge hit that when AC/DC made it to the Sydney Opera House, they garnered media attention in the papers regarding this cover in particular! You can see this little slice of history in Dave Evans’ recent Facebook post on the topic, with a picture of the band at the time, as well as the article in question.
He’s definitely found his niche, and the world is taking notice: we reported a couple days back that Dave was recently featured in a Blabbermouth article, stating that his split from AC/DC has left him with no regrets, and that he’s had a fantastic music career in his own right.

But that’s not all. We want to bring your attention to a SECOND Blabbermouth story that you can read by clicking here, as well as a THIRD you can click to read here, which detail the recent release of the legendary HEARTBREAK HOTEL.
That’s right: even though AC/DC never recorded the much-requested hit, Dave listened, and is here to present it to you in the modern era!
This release of Heartbreak Hotel is designed to mimic the exact style of AC/DC when they originally played the cover live. Now, after much acclaim across the decades, Dave is reviving the wishes of fans worldwide who got their start with the band by listening to this cover. They may have moved on and never expected an official release of this cover, but Dave is intending to surprise them all by capturing the magic of rock in the 70s. And to do that, he’s not going in alone – he’s collaborating with Metallica’s Flemming Rasmussen as producer, making the dreams of Beavis and Butthead come true… and a billion other rock fans besides!
No matter what era of rock n roll you’re a fan of, whether it’s old school Elvis, classic AC/DC, or some of the new stuff that artists like Dave are making to this day with hits such as Guitarman, Heartbreak Hotel is a love letter to how AC/DC got the ball rolling on its popularity, faithful to that vintage sound while still carrying that crisp modern production quality.
Hopefully you early AC/DC superfans out there will agree that it’s been worth the wait! How do you think Heartbreak Hotel compares to our personal favourite work of Dave’s, that being Sinner? We’ll just have to eagerly wait and see… Maybe the Sinner shirt in our wardrobe will have even more company soon! We got high hopes! And there ain’t nothing wrong with repping Elvis-adjacent merch either, even outside of those conventions where everyone dresses like him.
We hope that if you didn’t know Dave Evans and his rockin’ legacy before, or if you didn’t know about this Elvis | AC/DC | Metallica match made in heaven that’s been decades in the making, this will help you get in touch with your long wild hair and 70s/80s attitude once again – some merch could help with that! Show off your style and make the world remember what a real rocker looks like. Or maybe you can even turn up to one of his current Latin American tours if you happen to be in that neck of the woods right now… scroll up, you’ll see the details for the where/when… Otherwise, look for Dave Evans at all great music stores across the world.
